Pricing your products
Every product has a pricing panel — same shape, same controls, whether you're pricing a course, a community, a digital download, or anything else. This page covers the whole panel.
Quick answer
Open the product's editor and find the Pricing section. Pick a mode — Free, One-time, or Full (one-time plus subscriptions) — then fill in amounts and intervals. Drag rows to reorder. Archive a row when you stop selling it but want to keep customers on it. Everything autosaves.
Pricing mode
Three tabs at the top of the pricing panel:
| Mode | What customers see |
|---|---|
| Free | No card form on checkout. They claim it with an email address. |
| One-time | A single price. Pay once, done. |
| Full | A one-time price and one or more subscription tiers, side by side at checkout. |
Pick whichever matches the offer. You can switch later without losing existing customers — a switch only affects new purchases.
Lead magnets are always free
Lead magnets exist to capture an email in exchange for a free download. The pricing controls are disabled for them — you'll see the Free mode locked in. See lead magnets.
One-time price
One row, one amount.
- Type the amount in your store's currency. Klixey shows the currency next to the field so you always know what you're entering.
- The customer pays this once at checkout. After that, they have access — forever for a course or download, until you cancel for a community.
That's it. Most digital downloads, lead magnets that aren't actually free, and single-purchase courses use this.
Subscription pricing
A subscription charges your customer on a repeating cadence. Pick Full mode and add as many rows as you want.
Intervals
Each subscription row has its own billing interval. Common ones:
- Monthly — charged every month.
- Quarterly — every three months.
- Yearly — once a year.
You can mix and match — most creators offer monthly and yearly side-by-side, with the yearly priced as a small discount.
Trial period
Each subscription row has an optional trial period in days. While the trial is on, the customer has access without being charged. When the trial ends, Klixey runs the first real charge.
- Set 0 for no trial.
- A common pattern: 7-day trial on monthly, no trial on yearly (annual buyers have already shown they're committed).
- If a customer cancels during the trial, they're never charged.
Currency
The currency for the whole product is set at the product level. All your subscription tiers — and the one-time price, if you have one — share it. To change the currency, edit it on the product itself.
Reordering prices
When a product has more than one price option, your storefront shows them in the order they appear in the editor. Customers tend to pick the first option, so put your featured plan first.
Drag the rows by their handle to reorder. Klixey saves the new order as you drop.
Lead with the plan you want to sell
If yearly is your best margin, put it on top with monthly below as the "or pay month-to-month" option. If you're trying to build monthly recurring revenue, lead with monthly. Either way, the first row gets the most clicks.
Archiving a price
When you raise prices, you usually don't want to migrate existing customers — they're paying the old amount on the old terms, and they'd notice. Archiving a price gives you the right behaviour:
- The archived price is hidden at checkout. No new customer can buy it.
- Existing customers on that price stay on that price. Their renewals continue as normal.
- The price still appears in your records — refunds, payment history, customer profiles all look correct.
To archive: click the row's overflow menu and pick Archive. To bring it back, archived rows can be restored from the same menu.
Archive isn't delete
Archiving keeps the price around so existing customers don't break. Don't archive a price you've never sold — just delete it.
Common pricing setups
A few shapes that work well:
| Goal | Setup |
|---|---|
| Sell a course once, keep it simple | One-time |
| Recurring community subscription | Full mode, monthly only |
| Recurring community with a discount on yearly | Full mode, monthly + yearly |
| Pay-what-you-want with a free option | Free (and use your storefront copy to invite tips elsewhere) |
| 7-day trial on a monthly plan | Full mode, monthly subscription with 7 in the trial days field |
| Membership with a price drop on annual | Full mode, monthly + yearly, yearly priced ~30% below 12× monthly |
When pricing saves
Pricing edits autosave the same way every other field does. The status indicator next to the pricing panel tells you what's happening — Saving…, Saved, or an error if something went wrong. See autosave for the full story.
Free checkouts
When you set a product to Free (or a discount code brings the total to zero), checkout works the same way — except there's no card form. The customer enters their details, clicks the button, and they have access. Receipts and confirmation emails arrive the same way.
