Accepting a team invitation
Someone invited you to collaborate on their Klixey workspace. This page walks through what happens after you click the link in the email.
Quick answer
Open the invitation email and click Accept invitation. If you already have a Klixey account, sign in and click Accept. If not, you'll see a short signup form — just your name and a password (your email is already filled in). Either way, you don't need your own Klixey plan to join.
What the email looks like
You'll get an email from Klixey naming the workspace, the person who invited you, and the role they picked for you (Admin, Editor, or Viewer). The body has a single Accept invitation button.
You have 7 days to respond
Invitations expire 7 days after they were sent. If you wait too long, the link still opens but shows an expired notice — you'll need to ask the workspace owner to resend it.
If you already have a Klixey account
- Click Accept invitation in the email.
- You land on a Klixey page that shows the workspace name, the role you've been offered, and an Accept button.
- If you're not already signed in, sign in with your existing Klixey email and password.
- Click Accept.
You're attached to the workspace at the role specified and dropped straight into it.
Email addresses have to match
The email you sign in with has to be the same one the invitation was sent to. If they don't match — say, the invite went to your work address but you signed in with your personal one — Klixey shows an error and asks you to sign in with the right account. Sign out, sign back in with the matching email, then accept.
If you don't have a Klixey account yet
- Click Accept invitation in the email.
- On the response page, click Create an account.
- You'll see a short signup form with only two fields: Your name and Password. Your email is already filled in and can't be changed — it's locked to the address the invitation was sent to.
- Submit the form.
That's it. Your account is created, you're attached to the workspace at the invited role, and you're signed in automatically.
You don't need your own Klixey plan
Team members sit on the workspace Owner's plan. There's no card to enter, no plan to choose, and no separate billing for you. If you later want to run your own store, you can purchase a plan from your account.
If the link is expired or invalid
The response page has three states:
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Accept invitation | The invitation is active. | Click Accept (or create an account). |
| This invitation has expired | More than 7 days have passed since the invite was sent. | Ask the workspace Owner or an Admin to resend it from their Workspace settings → Team page. |
| Invitation not found | The link is malformed, the invitation was cancelled, or it was already used. | Ask the inviter to send a fresh invitation. |
You can't extend an expired invitation yourself — only the workspace Owner or an Admin can. See Managing your team for what they'll do on their end.
What happens after you join
You're taken into the workspace at the role you accepted. The Owner (and the Admin who invited you, if it wasn't the Owner) gets a notification that you've joined.
What you can do depends on your role:
- Admin — full operational access. Manage settings, custom domain, team, and customers.
- Editor — build the store, ship products, manage customers, and pull income reports.
- Viewer — read-only access to the store page. You'll be redirected away from the dashboard.
See Roles & permissions for the full picture.
Switching between workspaces
If you already have other workspaces — your own, or others you've been invited to — you can switch between them from the workspace menu at the top-right. Each workspace is fully separate: different products, customers, settings, brand, plan.
Your personal account is one thing; workspaces are separate
Your name, email, password, and profile photo travel with you across every workspace you belong to. The workspace itself — its store, brand, team, billing — is separate. See Personal vs workspace settings.
