Marketing your storefront (SEO, social sharing, OG metadata)

When someone shares a link to your storefront or one of your products in a chat, post, or email, the platform that hosts the link generates a small preview card — a title, a description, and a picture. This page covers how to set those preview cards on Klixey and how your store shows up in search.

Quick answer

Most stores look fine with no extra setup — Klixey uses your store name, tagline, and avatar as defaults. To make a link preview stand out, set a custom share title, share description, and share image on your store and on each product. Find them under the store or product settings.

What gets shown where

When your URL is pasted into a social platform or messaging app, that platform crawls your page for a few standard tags. Klixey emits those tags on every public URL.

Where your link is sharedWhat the viewer sees
FacebookTitle, description, large image.
Twitter / XTitle, description, large image.
LinkedInTitle, description, image.
Slack, DiscordTitle, description, image.
WhatsAppTitle, description, thumbnail.
Google searchTitle and description in results.
Bing searchTitle and description in results.

The same tags also drive how your URL appears in iMessage, Telegram, Notion, Linear, and pretty much anywhere a "rich link" gets unfurled.

Setting share details for your store

Open Store in the sidebar, look in the editor panel for Share preview (or similar — your settings page surfaces the same three fields). Fill in:

FieldWhat it doesFallback if blank
Share titleThe headline in the preview card.Your store name.
Share descriptionThe body text under the title.Your store tagline.
Share imageThe picture in the preview. Use a 1200×630 image for the best fit.A generated image using your store avatar and brand colors.

You only need to set these if you want something different from the defaults. For most creators, the defaults are fine.

Setting share details per product

Each product can override the store-level share details with its own. Open the product editor and find the same three fields.

FieldRecommendation
Share titleThe product name, plus a benefit. "Inkwell Coaching — 6 weeks, 1-on-1."
Share descriptionOne sentence on who it's for and what they'll get.
Share imageUse the product banner or a tailored 1200×630 image.

If you don't set product-level values, Klixey falls back to the store-level ones.

The fallback chain

Klixey tries the most specific value first:

  1. The product's own share title / description / image (when sharing a product URL).
  2. The store's share title / description / image.
  3. The store name, tagline, and a generated brand image.

You'll never see a blank preview card — there's always something to fall back to.

Sitemap

Klixey publishes a sitemap.xml for your store automatically. It includes your storefront homepage and every published product. Search engines crawl it to find what to index.

You don't have to do anything — the sitemap regenerates as you publish or unpublish products. You can view it at:

Or on a custom domain:

Tips that actually move the needle

  • Write a tight share description. One sentence, focused on the outcome. "Learn watercolor in 30 days" beats "An online course about watercolor."
  • Pick a share image with text baked in. Most platforms truncate the description. A small headline inside the image stays readable.
  • Use the product banner consistently. If your product banner already looks great, set it as the share image and you're done.
  • Test your URL. Paste it into a Slack chat or message yourself in WhatsApp before launch. See what visitors will see.

Unlisted products

Setting share details on an unlisted product (one not shown in your storefront grid) is still useful — you typically share unlisted product URLs in DMs, email, or ads, so the preview card carries weight.
