What a customer experiences post-purchase

After your customer pays (or claims a free product), they go through three things in quick succession: a confirmation page, an access email, and arrival in the customer portal. This page walks through each one and what you can customize.

Quick answer

The buyer sees a confirmation page styled with your brand, gets an access email from your store seconds later, and lands in your customer portal when they click through. You can customize the confirmation page's headline, description, and primary action — and the emails are sent on your store's behalf with your logo and branding.

The confirmation page

Every product type lands on a confirmation page that's a) styled with your brand and b) customizable through your product's Confirmation editor tab. You control:

  • The headline ("You're enrolled!" or whatever fits).
  • A description or what's-next instructions.
  • The banner image at the top.
  • The primary action button — usually a link to the customer portal, but you can change the label.

By product type, the default action is:

Product typePrimary action on confirmation
CourseOpen the course in their portal
CommunityOpen the community
AppointmentView booking details (calendar invite below)
EventView slot details (calendar invite below)
MembershipSee everything included
Digital downloadDownload the file
Lead magnetDownload the free file

For appointments and events, the confirmation page also shows the date, time, duration, and meeting location.

The access email

A few seconds after the confirmation page renders, an email lands in your buyer's inbox. The exact email depends on what they bought. The common pattern:

  • Sender uses your store name and your store logo appears at the top.
  • Subject matches the product type ("Enrollment confirmation", "Welcome to the community", "Your download is ready", "Booking confirmation", etc.).
  • A single tap gets them to what they bought — either a magic link that signs them in, or a sign-in link with their email pre-filled.

You're the sender on record

Customers see your store name in their inbox, not "Klixey." Replies go to the support email you set in your store settings.

Here's the thing many creators don't realize: a customer doesn't need to create a password to get into their portal.

  • First time on your store? Their email contains a magic link. One tap signs them in. No password setup.
  • Already set a password on your store? The email links to your sign-in page with their email pre-filled.

Klixey picks the right one automatically — buyers don't choose. Magic links are valid for 7 days and work once. For the full picture, see magic link vs password.

Why this matters for you

Lower friction means more buyers actually get into their purchase. A first-time customer who'd otherwise bounce off "create an account" is signed in with one tap straight from the email.

Calendar invites (appointments and events)

When a customer books an appointment or signs up for an event, the confirmation email includes a calendar attachment. Opening it adds the slot to their Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook.

If you've connected your own Google Calendar to your workspace, your customer gets a native Google Calendar invite from your account instead — same effect, but it shows up in their calendar as a regular invite from you.

Buyers also get reminder emails before each session (typically 24 hours, 2 hours, and 10 minutes ahead for appointments; 24 hours and 2 hours for events).

Where the customer lands

Click through from the email or the confirmation page and your customer arrives in the customer portal — a separate area from your storefront, scoped to your store. From the portal they:

  • Watch courses (modules, lessons, video, progress).
  • Read and post in communities they've joined.
  • Manage their memberships and active subscriptions.
  • Update their card and download Stripe-hosted receipts on the Billing tab.
  • View past payments and access their digital downloads.

The portal lives at klixey.com/{your-slug}/portal/ — or /portal/ on your custom domain.

Subscription lifecycle emails

If the customer bought something recurring (a subscription course, a paid community, a recurring membership), they'll see more emails over time as billing happens:

EmailWhen it goes out
WelcomeRight after subscription starts
RenewedAfter each successful renewal
Payment failedWhen a renewal didn't go through
SuspendedAfter repeated failed retries
ReactivatedWhen access is restored
CancelledWhen the subscription ends

All of these come from your store, branded with your logo. See payment failures for the full sequence and how to help a buyer recover.

For deeper email customization (subject line tweaks, full template overrides), we don't currently expose that — let us know if you need it.
